AHa Strategic College Counseling was formed as a way to help high school students and their families navigate the college admissions journey. With so many options, the research that needs to be done can be overwhelming. That's where we come in! The students we work with benefit from having one trusted advisor with a deep catalogue of research, support tools, and knowledge to help guide them through the journey and find success.

My Story
​All my life, I've been teaching -- both literally and more esoterically. With a bachelors degree focused on English and Education, teaching high school English and Journalism was a natural fit. It was through the Journalism program that I learned the art of Marketing and I was wooed away from teaching and into the world of Corporate America where I was able to marry my talents for explaining difficult concepts simply and for guiding my clients through difficult processes.

My professional experiences have been transformative -- I've learned that when I couple my teaching skills with my marketing skills I can help uncover strengths in a person that even they didn't know they have. As it turns out, selling a product isn't terribly different than "selling" a person, which is really all that the college application process is!

Because of my strong connection to this age group from my years of teaching, because of my many years as a swimming coach, and because I'm a parent of two children in their late teens, I bring a unique perspective to my work. I understand that an empathetic and compassionate approach is paramount to working with adolescents. I prioritize discovery so that my clients and I are partners and so that everyone has value in the process, and above all, I value each student's uniqueness and I celebrate that in the process. My collaborative efforts with college admissions counselors have assisted countless students in navigating the complexities of the college application process and having important conversations about other post-secondary options.

When I'm not working, I have a wonderful family that keeps me on my toes -- my husband who is a high school math teacher, my 2 teenage daughters who delight and surprise me every single day, and my dog who sleeps near my feet in my office as I get work done. I also make time to re-connect with my athletic self where I work out 3 days a week on a Masters Synchronized Swim Team. My team and I boast 4 National wins and are always striving for more!
